Event Registration

Competitor and spectator registration will be managed by RK9 Labs at RK9.gg.

Registration for this event is open to all competitors in good standing with the Play! Pokémon program. Competitors must have an active Play! Pokémon account with current and accurate information. Online registration is required to participate. Registration is limited by space at the event.

Registration for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the Pokémon video game, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE events will be divided into two waves on September 17 at the following times:

  • Wave 1: September 17 at 10:00 a.m. BRT
  • Wave 2: September 17 at 6:00 p.m. BRT

Your birth date is required to make sure you play in the correct age division for the event you are attempting to register for. Without the ability to confirm your birth date, you cannot register online for any event.

Refunds for registration are not available for this event. Additionally, registration is locked to a specific competitor and cannot be transferred. If circumstances change before the event begins and you will be unable to attend, please email pokemon.tournaments@copag.com.br up to one week prior to the event start.

Badge pickup

Competitors badge pickup will happen at the registration area of the event at Expo Center Norte – Pavilhão Azul, from 5:00 pm BRT to 8 pm BRT on Thursday, Nov 14; and from 7:15 am BRT to 8:00 am BRT on Friday (Nov 15).

Tournament Format and Structure

Competitors must comply with the Tournament Rules. This competition will use the Standard format.

The number of Swiss rounds will be determined by attendance, with play potentially split over two days. Information on the number of expected rounds can be found in our Tournament Rules and Resources, page 24.

Each round you will be paired against another competitor to play your match. You will be able to find your table number through your RK9 Player Tournament Dashboard. Ensure you get to your table on time. Being late to a match can result in penalties.

After Day 1, all competitors with the necessary amount of match points will advance to Day 2 of play.

After all Swiss rounds are completed, the Top 8 competitors and all competitors with the same number of match points as 8th place will advance to an asymmetrical single-elimination bracket to determine the winner of each event.

Junior and Senior Division competitors will have one meal break per day. Exact timing for each event’s meal break will be announced on-site for each event. There is no scheduled meal break for competitors in the Masters Division.

What to Bring

When you show up at a Pokémon TCG tournament, there are some things you must have with you:

  • Your deck as registered for the tournament
  • Damage counters and condition markers
  • A coin or coin-flip-legal die
  • A pen to fill out your match slip

Card sleeves are strongly encouraged. Optional items include a playmat and a notepad for taking notes during the event.

Proof of age may be requested, and failure to provide proof of age may result in the competitor being denied participation in the tournament (at the organizer’s discretion).

Deck List Submission

Deck lists will be submitted online via RK9.gg. All deck lists must be submitted by 8 a.m. on the first day of the event for each age division. You can resubmit your deck list as many times as you want prior to the submission deadline; however, you must play the final deck list you submit.

Tournament Format and Structure

All video game championship (VGC) events will use Regulation Set H.

The number of Swiss rounds will be determined by attendance, with Masters Division play split between a maximum of two days. Information about the number of expected rounds can be found here on pages 26–27 of the Tournament Rules Handbook.

Each round you will be paired against another competitor to play your match. You will be able to find your table number through your RK9 Player Tournament Dashboard. Ensure you get to your table on time. Being late to a match can result in penalties.

After Day 1, all competitors with the necessary amount of match points will advance to day two of play.   • A fully charged console from the Nintendo Switch family of systems (Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model, or Nintendo Switch Lite) with a working USB-C port and the latest system updates installed
  • You should set your Nintendo Switch wired internet settings to automatic
  • Make sure you have an active Nintendo Switch Online membership for the duration of the event
  • A team of tournament-legal Pokémon for the current format at the time of the event (see the Tournament Rules and check back regularly before the event for updates)

Competitors are strongly encouraged to bring a charger for their systems. It is the competitor’s responsibility that their console remains operational throughout the tournament.

Team List Submission

Connecting to a Battle

At the beginning of the tournament, you will be seated for the competitor meeting or Round 1 pairings, depending upon the event. After being seated, you will be provided with your official “opponent view” team sheet. Be sure to keep a close eye on your sheet, as you are required to show it to your opponent at the start of each tournament round. You should check that the information on your team sheet is correct. If there are any errors, contact a Judge immediately to assist you.

Each round, you will connect your Nintendo Switch to a dock at the table number you are assigned to. Your system should be set to Airplane Mode when playing tournament matches.

Battles will be held using the Union Circle via Poké Portal.

  1. Competitor 1 will form a group using the Union Circle and share the unique code with competitor 2 so that they can join.
  2. Once connected, both competitors will select Link Battle to match up.
  3. Competitor must select Double Battle and Official Rules 1 for their match.
  4. Each competitor should confirm that they are paired with the correct opponent in-game prior to beginning their match.
  5. After confirming their opponent and after the Preparations Complete! message appears in-game, competitors will exchange official opponent view team sheets.
  6. After completing their match, competitors must keep their Nintendo Switch consoles docked until they’ve disbanded or exited the Union Circle.

Please change the nickname setting in-game to Don’t Show, and all system friend notifications must be turned off. Make sure your Date and Time settings are set to sync with the internet.

2025 Pokémon GO Latin America International Championships Player Information

Tournament Format and Structure

Competitors will play in groups in double-elimination brackets using the Great League format in Pokémon GO. The top competitors from each group will advance to the Finals bracket. Tournament pairings will be posted to Challonge. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with Challonge prior to the event.

Matches are best of three, except for the Winners Final, Losers Final, and Grand Finals, which are best of five.

What to Bring

When you show up at a Pokémon GO tournament, you will need to have a team of tournament-legal Pokémon for the Great League format in your Pokémon GO account. Pokémon on the Pokémon GO Championships Banned Pokémon list are not permitted for play.

Players will compete on smartphones provided by the organizer. Players will be expected to log in and log out during the tournament. It is a player’s responsibility to log out of the device during the tournament.

You will be provided with a copy of your Team Preview List at the beginning of the tournament. You are responsible for looking after this, as you will need to present it to each of your opponents per the Match Structure guidelines in section 5.1 of the Pokémon GO Tournament Rules.

Team List Submission

2025 Pokémon UNITE Latin America International Championships Competitor Information

2025 competitors must comply with the Tournament Rules. Please check back in early September for the updated Tournament Rules link.

Tournament Format and Structure

Competitors will compete using the 5v5 draft pick format on the Theia Sky Ruins map in Pokémon UNITE. On Day 1, competitors will play in groups of up to four teams in a single round robin format. The top team(s) from each group will advance to the bracket stage. Teams that advance will be placed in a single elimination bracket on Day 2. All matches will be best-of-three, except for the Semifinals and the Finals, which are best-of-five. More information on format can be found on the Pokémon UNITE Championship Series official site.

What to Bring

When you show up at a Pokémon UNITE tournament, there are some things you must have with you:

  • Pokémon UNITE downloaded for either a Nintendo Switch system or a tournament-legal mobile device with the latest game updates installed
  • A fully charged Nintendo Switch system with a working USB-C port and the latest system updates installed OR a tournament-legal mobile device for competition, to be approved by tournament administration (see the Tournament Rules and check back regularly before the event for updated rules)
  • A charger for your system; it is the competitor’s responsibility that their console remains operational throughout the tournament
  • Proof of age may be requested, and failure to provide proof of age may result in the competitor being denied participation in the tournament (at the organizer’s discretion)

What happens if I lose my badge?

Will I receive anything for my purchase through the mail or in advance of the event?

You will not receive any physical items before the event takes place. You will, however, receive email confirmation that your registration for this event was successful. This email will help you check in on-site for the event and receive the badge you have registered for.

Is there a lost and found?

Yes! Lost and found is housed on-site at the event’s registration area. After the event concludes, you will need to contact the venue to retrieve any items you may have misplaced. Lost and Found requests can be sent to the Expo Center Norte by filling out this form.

Are wheelchairs and disability accessibility available?

What items are prohibited in the hall?

To ensure the safety of all attendees, the following items will not be permitted into the event:

  • Items that could be considered weapons and would not pass airline security (including all firearms, sharp objects, mock or prop weapons, and sprays)
  • Electronic smoking devices
  • Bags larger than 9" × 14" × 22" (23 cm × 36 cm × 56 cm). If an airline would not classify it as a carry-on, it is too big.

Am I allowed to cosplay in the venue?

Yes! We love seeing our fans cosplay as their favorite characters and Pokémon from across the Pokémon franchise. Please note that all costumes must be appropriate for all ages and must not include any prohibited items.

Can I buy, sell, or trade cards on-site?

Trading cards with other players is always a major draw of the game, and we welcome players to do so at our tournaments. Approved merchants will be on-site that you may buy from or sell to. TPCi is not responsible for transactions made with on-site merchants. Buying cards from or selling cards to an unapproved merchant is strictly prohibited at the event and may lead to expulsion from the venue.

Can I vape or use an e-cigarette inside the venue?

No, the use of e-cigarettes or vaping products is not permitted inside the venue at the Latin America International Championships.

The 2025 Latin America International Championships (LAIC) hosts a full schedule of side events open to all attendees who have an official event badge, regardless of whether the attendee is competing in an international tournament. Come battle for a variety of awesome prizes in smaller competitions throughout the weekend—it’s a great opportunity to compete against players from around the world!

Registration for side events can be done on-site at the Latin America International Championships. Please look for the on-site registration area for more information on registering for side events. Most side events require an entry fee.

Prize Wall

The prize wall closes early Sunday afternoon when the closing ceremonies start. Prizes must be redeemed by that time. See the side events area at the venue for more details.

Many side events at LAIC are scheduled events featuring a variety of formats in which everyone gets to play multiple matches. Championship-goers will also be able to join pods of four or eight players to participate in on-demand events throughout the weekend.

How do I register for side events?

What side events are offered at this event?

There are over 50 events available this weekend centered around the four games featured at the Latin America International Championships—Pokémon TCG, the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE. Across these four games, there are nearly 20 different formats available to explore and try out. Event descriptions are linked above in the side-events schedule.

Will side events award Championship Points?

Side events will not award Championship Points at the Latin America International Championships.
